Minister for Agriculture, Food & the Marine visits our Clonakilty office
Michael Creed, TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), visited the offices of Capita Customer Solutions (formerly SouthWestern) in Clonakilty to see a range of services delivered by Capita on behalf of his Department and Bord Bia, all of which were awarded following rigorous public procurement tenders.
Capita oversees a number of key agriculture contracts in Ireland, including the National Bovine Registration and Passport issuing service. The service is central to the integrity of the national herd, and is at the core of traceability which is essential to the quality and provenance of all beef and dairy produced in Ireland, an industry worth €10bn per annum.
In addition, Capita carries out more than 26,000 farm audits annually on behalf of the Bord Bia, in accordance with their Beef & Lamb and Sustainable Dairy Assurance Schemes (SDAS), which are core to the Bord Bia Food Quality Assurance scheme for both national and international markets.
Welcoming the Minister to the offices, Paddy Morrissey, managing director of Capita Customer Solutions, said: "We are delighted Minister Creed has visited to see range of key services delivered here on behalf of his Department and Bord Bia since 1996 and 2006 respectively.
“We are proud of our longstanding partnership with the public sector in Ireland and we look forward to continued growth in this area.
“Agriculture is an essential part of the Irish economy and the services we provide help offer reassurance to consumers that the products they pick up off the shelf are traceable and safe.”
