We recently introduced our Wellbeing Champions in our offices in Little Island, Clonakilty and Sligo.

All of our champions are colleagues who volunteered to take on the role of Wellbeing Champion at work.

According to HR Partner Jenny Kenrick who is sponsor of this programme “I feel this is the first step in conquering the stigma attached to Mental Health by introducing this course titled “Time to Change”.   The main role of each champion is to create a culture within their teams and environment that assists with changing the culture. It is a Mental Health Network Forum to support a mentally healthy workforce.   The Mental Health Network is an employee led network looking at all areas of Mental Health, providing training, resources and support.”

Each champion has received training to prepare them for their roles within Capita Customer Solutions.

The Wellbeing Champions way of working is to;

Provide a forum within the business dealing directly or indirectly with mental health issues of any kind and to come together to share views, experiences and knowledge.

Raise awareness, increase understanding and provide information and resources to encourage a culture where everybody is comfortable being open about mental health issues at work.

Provide support and resources to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem so they can make informed decisions on how to cope and recover.

While our Wellbeing Champions can provide support, they understand the limitations, they are not medical / HR experts, or acting in any official capacity.   They can listen to/talk with and signpost to where information and professional support can be accessed.

“On a personal level I am blown away with the interest and genuine appreciation that members have expressed in relation to this topic.  I believe we all have a part to play to ensure we create a culture where Wellbeing and good mental health becomes part of our everyday in creating better outcomes both in our professional and personal lives.”
